Pyblosxom TODO

Things I still need to install and test before I decide on Pyblosxom as my blogging platform:

  • comments and captchas
  • the readmore plugin (because my entries are often long)

There's also a very long list of things I'd like to do if I decide on Pyblosxom:

  • Fix autumn flavor sidebar's tagcloud and calendar formatting
  • Try out other flavors
  • Try out other plugins: googlestats.py, pydelicious.py
  • Fix the date on each entry to display time as well as date.
  • Add one of those nifty RSS icons with a link to the RSS flavor
  • Add a creatives common link on the sidebar, since that's what this blog is licensed under
  • Add more links to the sidebar. Do I want to link to minilop.net as my homepage, or can I whip something up in Pyblosxom? It's a shame to redirect people to Jamey's very plain homepage at minilop.net.
  • Figure out how to add a meta-page for all tags like on the blog of the guy who created the Folksonomy plugin. The populartagcloud variable will create a tag cloud with the most used tags, but I want people to be able to see all the tags also.
  • Create a plugin to display mood icons for each entry. It's a little dorky and reminiscent of Livejournal. I might hate it, so I should inline images in the entries first to try it out.
  • Create a plugin to automatically create icons for each entry. I like the eye candy, but it might be too much graphics for the site. Might not look professional?
  • Create an image gallery? I'd like to host my own images. I currently host some of them on flickr, picasaweb, and photobucket. Jamey's server doesn't have much storage, so I'll probably stick with picasaweb until we get a rack in the colo-coop. Yet another bit of information I provide Google; it's a good thing they're not evil. ;)

That list seems really long. However, when I compare the current layout with my Livejournal layout, I have to say that I like my Pyblosxom layout better. It flows better and it looks very clean. The sidebar looks much better in Pyblosxom. The tags look nicer in a tagcloud rather than in a list and the page summary on Livejournal is just useless.

I love being able to customize my blog! I started installing Pyblosxom on Friday night, and now it's Saturday night, er, Sunday morning and I have an almost complete blog. I think that says something about Pyblosxom. :)
